Theism
31 05 10 - 23:17I do not understand why any rational minded person believes in an omniscient creator who somehow has an influence over our lives. Believing in someone or something that created the universe or at least initiated the "Big Bang", that I understand. But all organised religions are quite clearly a load of bullshit. How can anyone not see that?
Sure some of the moral values associated with religions are a good thing, but why you need to believe a load of mystical bullshit about people performing impossibilities, claiming to be sent by a nonexistent God, claiming to have been born to a virgin (yeah right), claiming to be the son of God, an apostle, a prophet, or God itself, is totally beyond comprehension. I am quite capable of holding a decent set of moral values without filling my head with a load of nonsensical superstition and hearsay.
All of these things I do not understand. I can however accept them. What I cannot accept are creationists. You must have to be a superior kind of retarded to genuinely believe that the Earth is roughly 6000 years old. And to claim to take the bible word for word literally, and yet not stone rebellious children to death as was stated should be done in the bible.
Underneath all this bullshit though, is the single greatest cause of war, mass murder and massacre. Organised religion is the absolute bane of humanity. It serves no discernible purpose any more, and it's only prior purpose really was to levy taxes from the peasants.
This will sound contradictory I know, but people should believe whatever they choose to believe. But what they choose to believe should be something they have come to their own conclusions about without anyone telling them what they should, or could believe. Personal, individual belief, based on your life experience, not a book that even assuming it was originally the word of God, has been rewritten and rewritten by man for thousands of years and utterly bastardized from it's original text. And not only that, but edited by the only people who could read and write, the monks, who had a vested interest in manipulating people to pay taxes and keep them in fear of Gods wrath.
What a load of cock.
